The shown performance in the games was very high. EC Red Bull Salzburg proved that also Austrian ice hockey clubs are doing great work with young players. In the group stage only narrowly defeated by HC Slovan Bratislava, the Salzburgers achieved third place with an excellent performance against HDD Bled (Slowenia).
The finals between HC Sparta Praha and HC Slovan Bratislava was excellent. Even though the score was still 0:0 at the end of the regular playing time, the game was exciting and entertaining. Both teams showed their skill and power. HC Sparta Praha won the tournament with a Golden Goal.
An important step forward
The International Sport Funding & Support Association regards the tournament as an important step ahead. The games allowed an evaluation of the youth work and an establishment of a tournament location was achieved. That is a very important result for the ISF.
The advancement of sports for youths is the focus of the ISF, which includes both material and non-material means.
The tournament was also important for the ISF to demonstrate its own performance. This was also confirmed by the president of the hockey club “Vienna Capitals”, Dkfm. Hans Schmidt and president of the OEHV HR, Dr. Dieter Kalt.
With eight teams from seven countries, the ISF has achieved the goal to bring different peoples together with sports. The tournament also presented sports as an integral part of social life and the fact that sports is beneficial for health is elucidated in all of ISF’s events.
